Brrrr ! January was a cold month here in northern Ohio. We
have had snow on the ground since Christmas, ice and wind chills dropping
below 0. The kids even had 3 days of school cancelled this month
because of the weather. I was hoping that the groundhog wouldn't see
his shadow and spring would be right around the corner. The forecast
here is for more snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Now we know why the
groundhog went back inside!
Class resumed on the 5th of January and the kids
were glad to be going back to school. The semester ended the 22nd
and the girls got their report cards. Lauren
got 5A's and 1B. Her B was 1% from an A. She still enjoys
school and soaks up everything they teach her. She loves to read and
learn about animals. Lindsey
just
got S's on her card. She is doing very well also. I can see a
lot of improvement since the first of the year. She is starting to
learn to read and loves to try to read books to us. She is also a
great puzzle worker. She can do the 100 pc. ones. Jared
doesn't get a report card, but he loves school and was upset on the
days that school was cancelled. He has learned to put on and zip up
his own coat and he thinks he is big stuff. His favorite is still
anything to do with trains.
We had a girl scout bowling party before
school started back from break. It was a lot of fun and some of
the girls even got over 100. Lauren got a strike and was very
excited.
All three kids went to a birthday party at an
indoor playground.
Lauren sold over 150 boxes of Girl Scout
cookies by
walking around our neighborhood in the freezing cold weather.
The kids had friends over during the snow
days.
Lauren's has two teachers for this year.
One for the first semester and one for the second. Each teacher
had a surprise party for the other one the day before the semester
ended. I helped the kids make a book for the teacher that was
going away.
I sent in 7000 Campbell's labels for the
school,
On the 30th of January, Jared was playing ghost
with a cover over his head and ran into the corner where the two walls
meet. He ended up with a small gash in his head. We were
able to fix it without a trip to the ER using liquid bandage.
Those are the highlights from January.
The rest of the month was filled with our normal monthly stuff.
My sister and her kids came up to visit over a
long weekend. We celebrated Cait's birthday and went to Chuck E.
Cheese. The kids liked having four days to play. Dennis and I
even snuck out to dinner by ourselves.
