December was a very
busy and exciting month. We started out the month with the school
skating party and Lauren's 1/2 birthday at school. I went to eat
lunch with Lauren, and stayed for recess. She donated a book to the
school library and took brownies for her birthday treat. We also had the G.S.
Christmas party at our house. The girls exchanged gifts, played games,
made dough ornaments, ate, and went caroling at a local nursing home.
Lauren went to another birthday party. I baked
5 dozen cookies and went to the neighborhood cookie exchange. Jared
had red day and the show and tell bag at school. He took trains for
both days. We had a brownies meeting and a GS leader meeting. The 12th was Secret Santa
day at the girls school. (All the kids go to the community room class
by class and buy $1 gifts for their family.) I helped in the
babysitting room and as a helper for the shopping. The kids get
their gifts wrapped and make a bag to put them in. It is a lot of
fun. Jared even got to shop after it was over. The 13th was
Lunch with Santa at Dennis' work. The kids got to sit on Santa's
lap, make a craft, eat lunch, and they all got a gift. Dennis
finished his arcade game. He took an empty old arcade cabinet and
with a lot of time and computer/ electrical work turned it into a working
arcade game that plays all of the old favorites. Unfortunately he
doesn't get to play it much, because the rest of us are playing
it.
The next week we had the neighborhood playgroup
at our house, Jared's school party and the girls' school parties. We spent
a lot of time making all the crafts for the teachers and bus
drivers. I helped with Lauren's party and stopped in at Lindsey's
for a few minutes. We also finished up our shopping and wrapping.
